The short version. Bomo is built so that we know as little about you as possible.
We don’t track you, we don’t run ads, we don’t profile you, and we never sell or rent your information. Your messages, media, and calls are end‑to‑end encrypted — we cannot read them, and once they’re delivered we remove them from our servers. The only thing we store from our website is the name and email you give us to request an invitation.
Privacy isn’t a feature of Bomo — it’s the reason it exists. We designed the service to collect the minimum information needed to work, to keep your conversations unreadable to anyone but the people in them (including us), and to hold onto as little as possible for as short a time as possible. This policy explains, plainly, what that means.
Everything you send in Bomo — text, photos, video, voice messages, and calls — is end‑to‑end encrypted. It is encrypted on your device and can only be opened on the recipient’s device. Our servers only ever see unreadable ciphertext, so we cannot access the content of your communications, and neither can anyone who might obtain access to our servers.
We keep as little as possible. Once a text message is delivered, we remove it from our servers. Photos, videos, and voice messages are end‑to‑end encrypted, so our servers only ever hold them as ciphertext we cannot read, and they are automatically deleted from our servers within about two weeks. Scheduled “Future” messages are likewise stored, still unreadable to us, until their delivery time. Your conversation history lives on your own device, not with us.
To provide the service, we process a small amount of account information:
We hold this information only for as long as your account exists.
To show you which of your contacts are already on Bomo, the app checks phone numbers from your device against our directory over an encrypted connection. We do not store your address book — the check is used only to return matches, and the numbers you send for this purpose are not retained.
Your messages and media are stored on your device, tied to your account. If you sign out, that on‑device data is removed. If you use your device’s own encrypted backup, your history may be included there — that backup is controlled by you, not by us.
If you request an invitation on letsbomo.com, we store the name and email address you enter. This is the one thing we keep from the website, and we use it for a single purpose: to contact you about access to Bomo. We don’t add you to marketing lists, and we don’t share it. Ask us and we’ll delete it.
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers strictly to operate the service:
These providers process only what’s needed for their function and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not use advertising networks or analytics providers.
Delivered text messages are removed from our servers. Encrypted media is stored only as ciphertext we cannot read and is deleted within about two weeks; scheduled “Future” messages are likewise stored, unreadable to us, until delivered. Account information is kept while your account is active. Waitlist details are kept until you ask us to remove them or you join Bomo. When you delete your account, your account and its associated records are removed from our servers.
You can delete your account at any time, which removes your account information from our servers. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the information we hold, and to ask how it’s processed. To make a request, contact us at the address below and we’ll respond.
Bomo is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Bomo is operated by Uniqo LLC in the United States, and the limited information described here is processed there. If you use Bomo from outside the United States, you understand that this information is processed in the U.S.
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Bomo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
